The Eighth FIAP – ASOFONDOS Congress was held on April 16 and 17, 2015, at the Hilton Hotel, Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.

As in previous years, we had an outstanding group of national and international speakers who encouraged reflection on the economic outlook and financial markets, institutional investment and the role of life annuities. There was also a special session on the labor market and pension systems.

One of the highlights of the conference this year was the presentation delivered by the winner of the 2010 Nobel Prize in Economics, Peter Diamond, Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), who has specialized in academic research in social security, pension and labor market matters. Professor Diamond was part of the Social Security Advisory Council in the United States and was Chairman of the American Economic Association (AEA).

This event was attended by more than 550 people from the pension funds, insurance companies, banks, stock exchange brokers, trust funds and investment banks from Colombia and other countries. The event was also attended by the President of the Republic of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, as well as the Minister of Finance and the Financial Superintendent of the country.
