We are pleased to invite you to participate in the XVIII FIAP International Seminar “Ensuring compliance with the purpose of pension systems,” jointly organized by the International Federation of Pension Fund Administrators (FIAP) and the Association of Collective Investment Agencies and Pension Funds (INVERCO), on October 28, 2021, at The Westin Palace hotel, in Madrid, Spain.

The seminar will analyze the reforms to the pension systems implemented, or in process, in Europe and Latin America, and their contribution to the fulfillment of the primary purpose of these systems, namely, to provide adequate pensions for workers. It will also address the challenges posed by the demographic, labor, financial and social context faced by different countries, and the need to increase the sources of funding for pensions, especially in economies with high informality, and improve investment efficiency. The importance of applying appropriate communication policies and strategies to the essential aspects of the systems will also be studied in depth, thereby avoiding significant gaps between received and expected benefits.

The topics to be discussed include:

• Reforms to pension systems due to labor, demographic and financial trends, and social demands.
• New sources of funding for pensions in economies with high informality rates.
• The communicational challenges of the individually-funded systems.
• Efficiency in pension fund portfolio management.

This Seminar coincides with the 24th FIAP Annual Assembly. As on previous occasions, international experts will be invited to present their experience and knowledge in different topics of interest, with participants from different regions of the world (FIAP members and others), including government authorities, congressmen, officials of organizations, international representatives, representatives of pension fund managers, mutual funds and insurance companies, and other key players related to the financial and social security fields.
