The Discussion Forum “Global Challenges to Retirement Security,” organized by the International Center for Pension Management (ICPM), was held in Boston, USA, on June 6, 7 and 8, 2016.

Among the topics discussed were: the challenges of public defined benefit systems; long-term investment in alternative assets; the costs of defined-benefit and defined-contribution plans; optimal level of liquidity in pension systems (i.e., how much should workers withdraw from their saving before retirement?); the best tools for bridging the coverage gap in the pension systems; new academic ideas for long-term investors; the potential for reverse mortgages for improving the pensions of workers.

Furthermore, a panel conducted by the Chairman of the Chilean Association of Pension Fund Managers, Mr. Rodrigo Pérez Mackenna, specifically focused on reviewing the challenges of the Chilean pension system. You can review his presentation here.
