This study reflects on the economic and Social Security impacts of the population aging process. Its hypothesis is that the growing population aging trend could be one of the factors driving three major global trends: growing financial interdependence, secular stagnation and economic inequality. Similarly, the study addresses the main effects of the demographic transition on the sustainability of pension and health systems, key components of social security systems worldwide.
