Pensions Note No. 33 – Analysis of the Chilean Pension Reform Bill of Law – January 2019

At the end of November 2018, the Chilean government submitted a pension reform bill of law aimed at increasing the income of current and future pensioners. The main proposals of the project included:

  • Strengthening the Solidarity Pillar
  • A 4 % in the contribution rate, to the expense of the employer.
  • Encourage competition in the sector, allowing the entry of new stakeholders, among other measures.
  • Introduction of a severe dependency subsidy and insurance.
