Brazil: Regulation comes into force that allows automatic enrollment to complementary pension plans

The National Council of Complementary Pensions (CNPC) published a rule that regulates automatic enrollment in complementary pension benefit plans. In the edition of the Official Gazette of the Union of February 27, 2024, CNPC Resolution No. 60/2024 was published, which deals with the regulation of the automatic enrollment mechanism of Complementary Pension benefit plans. The new standard was approved by the CNPC in a meeting held on February 7. “It is with great satisfaction that we have had the publication of the new CNPC resolution that allows automatic enrollment. It is important that from now on planning managers work on the implementation of operational measures so that automatic enrollment really starts working,” says Jarbas Antonio de Biagi, CEO of Abrapp.

The general director of Abrapp highlights the commitment of the Ministry of Social Security and Previc in the discussions and progress towards the approval of the new standard. “I would like to highlight the commitment of the secretaries Paulo Roberto [dos Santos Pinto] and Narlon Gutierre, directors of Previc, with the support of the superintendent director, Ricardo Peña,” says Jarbas de Biagi. He also remembers that automatic enrollment is one of the main pillars defended by Abrapp and its associates in recent years and that it follows the standards of most countries that have the Complementary Pension segment with broad coverage for the population.
