The Newsletter of the Forum of Experts is a monthly publication of the BBVA Pensions Institute, which has been published since July, 2014.

The Forum of Experts comprises independent personalities of different nationalities from the academic and socio-economic research area, without any labor or commercial relationship with the BBVA group other than their participation in this forum.

The Forum of Experts plays a double role within the ‘Mi Jubilación’ initiative, and the BBVA Pension Institute which is part of it. On the one hand, it directs and performs the work and research relating to social security systems, in order to make contributions with a scientific basis that enrich knowledge in this area. On the other hand, it works to disseminate these conclusions among society, in order to contribute to knowledge and transparency regarding the functioning of our pension systems and the challenges they face.

A brief description of the last two newsletters, corresponding to December 2015 and 2016 January, is given below.

December 2015 Newsletter: This edition reviews the possible effects of demographics on the population, and also covers: (i) The particular characteristics of contribution in the General Regime; (ii) The distribution of pensions in Spain in 2014; (iii) The results of the 3rd Survey on Retirement and Savings Habits in Spain; (iv) The first results of the reform implemented in the United Kingdom in April, 2015; and (v) The new educational website for calculating pensions in Colombia.

January 2016 Newsletter: This edition reviews the demographic factors affecting the public pension system and also covers: (i) The particular characteristics of contributions to the General Regime; (ii) The evolution of the distribution of pensions in Spain; (iii) The results of the OECD’s report on pensions for Spain; and (iv) A comparison of pensions in Europe and the Americas.
