The advent of Coronavirus exposed the fragility of labor markets and social safety nets in emerging economies.

While the rapid response of governments managed to mitigate some of the economic and social effects of the pandemic, the negative impacts on poverty and development could endure for several years. Covid-19 also accelerated work automation and digitization processes, generating very different dynamics in the demand for labor. Furthermore, aging populations and high informality rates are some of the structural challenges creating uncertainty regarding the future of the labor market and social security.

What are the main challenges for Colombia and the region? These and other questions will be addressed at the first Asofondos Virtual Forum on November 11 and 12.
